Hamid Karzai Ends Afghan War In Favor of Taliban
Afghan leader Hamid Karzai has all but ceded the Afghan war against the Taliban by blocking further use of airstrikes against housing compounds in the country following the deaths of civilians in a recent airstrike.
The USA Today reports that Karzai has banned further airstrikes, but the NYT softpedals on Karzai’s statements.
This is yet another diplomatic headache to deal with, but more importantly, it gives the Taliban a tactical advantage that they should never have been given the opportunity in the first place. Now, the Taliban get to utilize housing compounds for further expansion of their terror activities inside Afghanistan and Karzai’s statement gives them cover unless the US and ISAF simply ignore Karzai’s statements.
